| Verdict: A message worth spreading. | ||
| Position formed in the early 80s and they're still going, which is quite a feat in itself. The band consists of: Alex Lonabaugh - Guitars, main songwriter John JJ Stout - Guitars, vocals Frank Barrett - Bass, vocals Jack Kocher - Drums & percussion Lil Al Bufano - Lead vocals, lyrics First up is the title track that sounds a lot like NWOBHM stalwarts Saxon, with even the vocals bearing a resemblance to Biff Byford. With 'Comin' Home' it is a similiar story, but with a bigger chorus than Saxon use. 'Angel Of The Morning' is cover version of the 70s hit. Rocked up versions of pop songs can be a bit of a dubious proposition, but Position carry it off with a great deal of style and it fits right in with the original material. Both 'Another Man's Woman' and 'Edge Of Love' feature Saxon style heavy metal that combines power and melody. 'Steal Your Heart' has the band tackle a ballad. On the final track, 'Treat Me Right', the band play some lighter material, with the keyboards more in evidence. Still a rocker, but with pomp rock influences. Another string to their bow. The selection of songs on the tape I received certainly suggests that the album is well worth checking out if you like hard rock/heavy metal with a sense of melody.
